According to new reports, Spelling has been exploring her legal options after the car crash she experienced on April 2. Sources with direct knowledge claim she is still contemplating and has not made a final decision about her next move.

Although she is still on the fence, the sources told TMZ that Spelling is seriously leaning towards taking action against the driver. The two-vehicle collision occurred in Temecula, California, with Spelling and seven kids in her SUV.

The passengers included four of Spelling’s children and three of their friends. They had been enjoying a peaceful journey when another driver allegedly ran a red light and rammed into the SUV, sending all eight people in the car to the hospital.

The outlet reported that Spelling and the kids were treated for injuries at the hospital, including bruises, contusions, and possible concussions. The situation could have been worse, with sources claiming Spelling’s quick thinking had saved the day.

Footage from the aftermath captured Spelling speaking to officers about the incident. She and the other driver appeared to be arguing about who was responsible for the accident, with both of their vehicles in bad shape from the collision.

One car was destroyed at the front, while the other had lost part of its frame. News of Spelling’s possible legal action followed her claims about the incident. The Blast covered the story, reporting that she had blamed the other driver for the accident.

Spelling opened up about the accident in an Instagram post, explaining that she and the other passengers in her vehicle were the victims of the unfortunate incident. She called out the other party for reckless driving, claiming they had been “going crazy, crazy fast.”

Spelling recalled the heart-stopping moment, noting she had looked to her right and seen the vehicle speeding towards her. She noted the car was about to ram into the side of her vehicle and made a split-second decision to turn left.

“I turned hard left, as hard as I could, as fast as I could, to avoid as much impact on the children as possible,” Spelling shared. She added that she and the kids were “so grateful and so lucky” because the crash could have been much worse.

Spelling’s close call with her kids isn’t the first time she has been placed in a difficult situation while driving. ABC News reported in June 2011 that Spelling had been pregnant with her third child and was driving two of her kids to school when an accident occurred.

She addressed the situation on Twitter, now known as X, explaining that a paparazzo had been chasing her car. Spelling noted that she had been trying to escape the relentless photographer when she crashed her car into the wall of her kids’ school.

Despite the scary incident, the photobug was not deterred and tried to take pictures. Spelling claimed the other mothers had rushed to her defense and chased the man away. Her rep later revealed she and her kids were not injured during the incident.

Besides experiencing terrifying car incidents, Spelling has faced emotionally draining health issues. The Blast covered the story, reporting that Spelling opened up about battling a months-long illness in a February 2026 episode of her “MisSpelling” podcast.

She explained that she was prone to getting sick a lot; however, the months-long illness was something she had never experienced. “It has been hell. Hell is individual to all of us, but this has been hell,” Spelling lamented.

The illness took a toll on her physical and mental well-being, with Spelling noting that the time she spent sick felt “hopeless” and “depressing.” She added that because she spent so long in bed due to the illness, she reached a point where she no longer wanted to leave her bed.
