The professional golfer reportedly dialed up the President while at the scene of his recent DUI car wreck to update him firsthand on the situation. The rollover crash occurred in Jupiter, Florida, on March 27 after he collided with a trailer a few minutes away from his home.

Donald Trump also defended Tiger Woods’ sobriety in a statement after his arrest, attesting that the golf champ keeps his hands completely off alcohol but had been dealing with pain from his previous accidents.

More details of what went down at the scene of the Woods’ car crash have come to light with recently released body cam footage. It may be shocking to know that between the time of the accident and the golfer’s arrest, he called his soon-to-be father-in-law, briefly detailing to him the incident.

In the footage obtained by TMZ, Woods was seen waiting, uncuffed, as the officers assessed the scene. The champ was permitted to sit in one of the police cruisers before the deputies had him perform a field sobriety test. Later in the video, Woods walked into the distance away from the vehicle, causing the deputies to call out to him.

As he was returning, he appeared to be on a call, which he ended by saying, “Thank you so much. All right. You got it. Bye.” When one of the officers asked him not to walk off but remain close by, the athlete responded: “Yeah, I was just talking with the President.”
