As promised, Savannah returned to work on Monday, April 6, rocking a beautiful yellow dress and a matching heart-shaped necklace. Although she stayed professional during her segment with co-anchor Craig Melvin, she couldn’t fight back the tears when she stepped outside.

During the 8 a.m. hour, Savannah joined co-anchors Melvin, Jenna Bush Hager, Al Roker, Carson Daly, and Sheinelle Jones outside for the “TODAY” show plaza to greet fans. Many stepped out to welcome Savannah back to work, donning the yellow symbol of hope.

Why The Color Yellow Means So Much To The Broadcast Journalist

Yellow has become the symbol of support and hope for Savannah since her mother’s disappearance on February 1. Page Six reported that it was first adopted by Arizona residents who dropped yellow flowers and ribbons around Nancy’s neighborhood following her abduction.

The yellow symbol was later adopted by NBC News staff to show their support for Savannah. Hoda Kotb announced their use of the color on a February 18 episode, revealing a fan had suggested it to them, and they began keeping yellow roses around Studio 1A.

Additionally, staff members donned yellow ribbons to support Savannah and her family. The yellow symbol of hope was inspired by the song “Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak Tree” and dates back to 1979. At the time, 52 US diplomats were held as hostages in Iran, with one of the diplomats’ wives urging the public to wear yellow ribbons as a show of support.

The Blast covered Savannah’s return to work on April 6, reporting that she kicked off the morning segment with the words, “It is good to be home.” She rocked a professional smile alongside a beautiful, bright yellow dress and a matching heart-shaped necklace.

Savannah’s comeback came a day after she poured her heart out in an emotional message on Easter Sunday. The recorded statement was shared by Good Shepherd New York’s digital service, capturing the TV personality’s inner struggles.

Savannah described her mother’s disappearance as her “own season of trial,” revealing it tested her faith in God and left her feeling “bitter.” Although she had more questions than answers, Savannah stressed that she never doubted that God would eventually “redeem this pain.”

Last month, The Blast reported that Savannah’s missing mother had once again made waves following the discovery of a woman’s body. The corpse was found about 100 miles from Nancy’s Arizona home, sparking speculations about a connection.

However, the Scottsdale Police Department shut down these theories on X when a fan asked if the body was connected to Nancy’s disappearance. The speculations stemmed from fans’ hope for updates as investigations did not reveal anything substantial.

A retired FBI supervisory special agent, Lance Leising, also weighed in on the disappearance investigation in an interview. Leising argued that Nancy’s case was more difficult than it appeared, explaining that it was hard for authorities to make any progress without “meaningful leads.”
