Donald Trump Joins Taylor Swift Wedding Hype With Social Media Posts

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce‘s wedding dominated headlines, becoming one of the year’s biggest moments. As congratulatory messages poured in from fans, the White House took a different approach, posting edited graphics that referenced the couple’s union and joining the Swift-Kelce hype, despite Donald Trump‘s well-known history of criticizing the pop superstar.

On July 3, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce tied the knot at Madison Square Garden in front of about 1,000 family and friends. Following the ceremony, jumbotrons outside the venue displayed text that read, “JUST&T MARRIED!” In addition, the Empire State Building lit up in blue to celebrate the newlyweds. “Her something blue,” the landmark skyscraper posted on X.

The White House jumped in on the Swift-Kelce wedding hype, but instead of congratulating the couple, the official account posted an edited photo of the jumpotrons outside MSG, with the text replaced with “TRUMP IS YOUR PRESIDENT,” and the caption, “IT’S HAPPENED!!!”

The post garnered different reactions, with some saying Trump had to make the biggest wedding of the year about himself. “Can’t let anyone else have their day?” one asked. “He can’t stand they’re getting more attention than him,” another commented.

The ‘America’s Eras Tour’ Post

A day before Swift and Kelce’s wedding, The White House uploaded a post referencing the former’s Eras Tour poster, which had also been edited.

A black-and-white photo of Trump with a fist raised is at the center of the photo, surrounded by historic events and figures in American history, some of which include George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, the moon landing, the famous “V-J Day in Times Square” photo, as well as the “Lunch Atop a Skyscraper” photo, among others.

Underneath, the text read, “AMERICA’S ERAS TOUR.” The caption read, “It’s been a long time coming,” a line from Swift’s 2019 song “Miss Americana & the Heartbreak Prince.”

Swifties quickly reacted to the photo, calling Trump “pathetic” and hoping the singer sues him for the “use of her brand.” Some created their own edited versions of the poster, replacing some of the images surrounding Trump with photos of Jeffrey Epstein.

For several years in her career, Swift avoided talking about politics. In 2018, however, she endorsed Democratic candidates Jim Cooper and Phil Bredesen on social media.

In the 2020 documentary “Miss Americana,” she said, “Back in the [2016] presidential election, I was in such a horrendous place that I wasn’t going to pop my head out. These aren’t your dad’s celebrities and these aren’t your dad’s Republicans… I need to be on the right side of history.”

That same year, Swift called out Trump for his aggressive response to the protests in Minneapolis following George Floyd’s murder. “We will vote you out in November,” she wrote.

Donald Trump’s Jabs On Taylor Swift

In 2024, the pop superstar let her millions of followers know she was endorsing Kamala Harris and Tim Walz for the elections. In response, Trump took to Truth Social, simply writing, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!”

His statement was followed by further comments about the singer. After a debate, he stated he was not a fan of the singer, adding, “She’s a very liberal person. She seems to always endorse a Democrat and she’ll probably pay a price for it in the marketplace.”

In yet another post on Truth Social in 2025, he wrote, “Has anyone noticed that, since I said ‘I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,’ she’s no longer ‘HOT’?”

Despite the social media jabs, the singer has not directly responded to Trump’s attacks on her.

Trump Reacted To The Couple’s Engagement

Despite claiming he hated Swift, the president had nothing bad to say when asked about the couple’s engagement. The couple was engaged in August 2025, and the news broke online during a Cabinet meeting. One of the reporters present asked Trump his thoughts about Kelce and Swift’s engagement.

“I think he’s a great player. I think he’s a great guy, and I think she’s a terrific person. So I wish them a lot of luck,” Trump said.

While Trump has not publicly commented on Swift in recent months, many interpreted the White House’s posts as a veiled jab at the singer.
