Taylor Swift recently married Travis Kelce in a lavish wedding that included over 1,000 guests. However, one celebrity who didn’t make the list is the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle.
Swift and Kelce’s wedding was one of the hottest tickets in town, as a slew of A-listers flocked to New York City’s Madison Square Garden to watch the newlyweds pledge their love and loyalty.
Details about the special day are still unfolding; however, an insider recently shared that the pop star and Super Bowl champion were super intentional about who they wanted in the room when they shared their first kiss as husband and wife.
With over 1,000 guests in attendance, it would appear that the famous couple was willing to let almost anyone in the door. However, a source close to the “Lover” singer and Kansas City Chiefs tight end told Rob Shuter of the “Naughty but Nice” Substack that not everyone could make the cut, including Markle.
“Taylor and Travis weren’t inviting people for headlines,” the source alleged, adding that powerful people in the industry were calling around to try and secure a ticket. “Getting invited became a status symbol,” they added.
The insider went on to claim that Markle, who officially married into the Royal Family in 2018, was eager to be among the invitees. Still, the newlyweds invited only people they “genuinely” wanted to share the special moment with.
Prince William And Kate Middleton Met With Taylor Swift And Travis Kelce In A Private Meeting Before The Wedding
While Taylor Swift and Kelce reportedly left Markle off the wedding guest list, it appears her in-laws, Kate Middleton and Prince William, received different treatment from the Grammy darling and her NFL boo.
Earlier in the summer, Prince William appeared on a U.K. radio show and asked the host to play a Swift song to honor his royal children. At the end of the conversation, he dodged a question about whether he’d received an invite to the massive event.
“No comment,” Prince William said before sharing that he hoped there would be an invite “around” the corner.
PEOPLE confirmed in late June that the two royals wouldn’t attend; however, they had a private meeting with the pair before the wedding occurred.
Kelce teased their secret meeting on an episode of his “New Heights” podcast, during which Prince William appeared to discuss the ongoing World Cup.
“I got the chance to see you not too long ago and invited you on the show because we were talking a little Aston Villa soccer, some excitement about the World Cup,” Kelce said, to which the Prince replied, “It’s fantastic. I think it’s been a brilliant World Cup. It’s been really well started, and I think the tournament’s been well balanced.”

Markle shouldn’t feel too down about reportedly being kept away from Hollywood’s biggest wedding in years, as Swift’s former best friend, Blake Lively, was also not in attendance.
Another source claimed that Swift is in a different place today than she was years ago when their beef originated, adding that the “Bad Blood” singer only wants to be around people who make her happy and fill her with a sense of calm.
The source explained how disheartening their fallout has been, considering they were once as thick as thieves. They went on to say that the status of their relationship likely won’t be repaired. “As far as [Taylor’s] concerned, their friendship is done,” they said.

In addition to the aforementioned names, some of Kelce’s former NFL teammates were excluded from the big day, including Chase Daniel, who threw Kelce his first NFL touchdown in 2014.
“Can’t believe my invite to Taylor & Travis’ wedding never came…” Daniel joked online, per The Blast. “Feels like throwing Travis Kelce his first NFL TD should’ve at least earned me a seat at the kids’ table.”
Will Compton was also left out of the loop, writing on his social media that he was “flabbergasted” to not be among the invitees.
Despite It All, Kelce And Swift’s Wedding Was ‘Magical’
Although all the details about the July 3rd extravaganza have remained under wraps, Kelce’s mother, Donna, who recently appeared in season 4 of “The Traitors,” shared a bit about the special day in a recent interview. “I really can’t say a heck of a lot except it was magical, man, magical,” she said, per The Blast.
